Sanyang beach is away from the main tourist resorts, but well worth a visit. It has a fantastic white sand beach dotted with the occasional beach bar and is very peaceful and relaxing.

Try the Crocodile pool at Bakau where you can meet “Charlie” who looks suspiciously like all the other crocs! There is the Bijilo Forest Park where you will have the chance to see Monkeys living in their natural environment. Have a jeep safari to Sanyang beach, a beautiful stretch of white sand backed by palm trees and lapped by the Atlantic Ocean. Gambia holidays also offer the opportunity to visit Fort James Island which was one of the main collection points for slaves until slavery was abolished. It was said to be the inspiration for the film Roots.
